The University's Information Services Group (or IS) provides computing and IT for the university.
Here in the School of Informatics we use IS services, and we also use our own computing services, provided by our own computing team.
For help with IS services use EdHelp (if you're a student) or IS Helpline (if you're not a student).
(Note: For rooms not equipped for a hybrid meeting, The OWL or Jabra speakerphones, Logitech webcams and tripod can be borrowed from Computing Support in IF-2.07.) Please give Computing Support at least 24 hours notice if you think you might need assistance with any of the AV facilities.
A Solstice Pod is a network gateway to a large screen in a meeting room. To locate those in Informatics, consult the AV facilities pages. To install the Solstice connection app, either follow its on-screen instructions or see the manufacturer's page How to Install Solstice page.
Office 365 is provided to the University by Microsoft. It includes mail, calendars, conferencing, cloud-based file storage, and various document editing and sharing facilities. All staff and students use it. The Teams collaboration software is part of Office 365.
Office 365 uses Microsoft's login system, which is distinct from the University's own "Your University Login" system (which used to be called EASE). You will have separate accounts for each of these login systems. However, you may well find that they have the same password.

The University's lecture recording service is called Media Hopper Replay. Its primary purpose is the recording of lectures, and it's integrated with Learn. It can also be used to record presentations or Seminar Series. Further details can be found on the IS web site at Introduction to Media Hopper Replay.
If you want your lectures to be recorded, please let the Teaching Office know in advance, giving as much notice as possible.
We have meeting rooms with video conferencing facilities. See AV facilities in the Informatics Forum for more details.
For medium term jobs (more than 18 hours, but less than 28 days), or any job that you wish to leave running in the background (so you can log out) use longjob.
