DICE release notes

Every few years, DICE moves to a newer version of Linux.

Release notes

DICE Ubuntu Jammy

  • Release notes.
  • DICE Jammy (22.04) became available in summer 2023, when the DICE desktops in the AT student computing labs were upgraded to it. Its upstream release, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, will be maintained until April 2027.

DICE Ubuntu Focal

  • Release notes.
  • DICE Focal (20.04) became available in summer 2020, first on desktops, and continuing with servers. Its upstream release, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, will be maintained until April 2025.

DICE SL7

  • Release notes.
  • DICE SL7 became available in 2015. From 2020 it started to be removed from desktops and user-accessible servers. As of summer 2023, our server upgrade programme continues to convert servers to Ubuntu. Maintenance of SL7's upstream distribution (RHEL 7.9) ceases in June 2024, so we must eliminate it entirely by then.
