www.inf.ed.ac.uk history

The Informatics Web Service was originally designed at the beginning of 1999. The Web Working Group supervised the design process, the details on their pages and in their mailing list archive may help to explain the background to many of the decisions made concerning the site.

2010

The recruitment targeted content was moved to the central Polopoly WCMS, including the www.inf.ed.ac.uk front page, which now redirects to www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/informatics.

2011

From around 2011, some of the CVS based content was replaced by Plone managed content. The main areas are /student-services and /school-services

May 2015

The Informatics content on the central Polopoly service was migrated to the replacement Drupal based EdWeb service.

September 2015

Content on our plone sections of www.inf.ed.ac.uk, were migrated to a local copy of EdWeb running on web.inf.ed.ac.uk.

2018

The only user maintained content on www.inf.ed.ac.uk are the teaching pages under /teaching/courses/, but these were mostly replaced by content on www.learn.ed.ac.uk.

2023

Still a few course related pages maintained on www.inf.ed.ac.uk/teaching/courses/. This may change as a new "OpenCourse" site comes online.
