Forum B.02 GSS

This page contains more information on how the Gas Suppression System ("GSS") operates in B.02.

When you enter B.02 and unset the intruder alarm this also has the effect of putting the GSS into "manual" mode. (You can confirm this by checking the indicator lights on the panel outside the door.) When you set the intruder alarm as you leave this also puts the GSS back into "automatic" mode (provided that B.Z14 has not also been put into "manual" mode).

GSS control panel in automatic mode

The image above shows the GSS control panel (located to the left of the B.02 door) in "automatic" mode. The indicator is located just to the left of the yellow flap.

GSS control panel in manual mode

The image above shows the panel in manual mode, as a result of either the B.02 alarm being unset or the B.Z14 timer having been enabled.

If there is an error when you unset the intruder alarm it is therefore important that you:

  1. Check the status of the manual/automatic indicators on the panel to ensure that the GSS has indeed gone to "manual" mode; and
  2. Report the problem as soon as you can, so that normal operation can be restored.

If the alarm sounds and you have to leave the building, please report to the fire controller at the Forum front door.

If you are still in B.02 for some reason when the GSS warning bell sounds you can hold off the release of the gas by pressing the button located on the wall near the intruder alarm panel for three seconds. This will give you 60 seconds grace. This action can be repeated as required.
