Where can I connect my laptop to a wired network port in Appleton Tower?

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version
Answer:

The upper levels of Appleton Tower are closed for building work.

You can connect your laptop to any of the unused network ports on levels 3 to 5 of Appleton Tower. You must provide your own network cable.

Please, never interfere with a network port which is already in use for some other purpose; never unplug a network cable from a network port so that you can use that port for your laptop instead.

Note that, for audit reasons, machines on the unused network ports on levels 3 to 5 of Appleton Tower are restricted to accessing only the University network: if you want to use a laptop to access the wider Internet, you should do so via a wireless connection instead.

See Self-managed machines in Appleton Tower for more information.
