Can I ask for a static IP address for a self-managed machine?
Answer:
Yes. If you need a static IP address, fill in a Support Request giving the reasons why you need such an address, along with the MAC address of the machine, a suggested DNS hostname for it, and the label of the network port to which it will be connected.
Please note: static addresses are normally issued only for University-owned equipment. Requests for exceptions must be accompanied by an academic or business case made by an appropriate member of staff.
