Using ssh from iOS

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

iOS is the operating system for Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads. The App Store offers a choice of ssh apps with which to login to Informatics machines. Popular ones include Termius, vSSH and Prompt 2.

Once your app is installed it will request connection details. The External login servers page lists the hostnames you should use when logging in from outside the Informatics network.

For security we normally recommend the use of GSSAPI (Kerberos) authentication with ssh, but this does not seem to be available on iOS. Instead please keep your DICE password secure and take care when entering it each time you login - we do not advise storing your password on your iOS device.
